Ochsner Health System took over The Fillmore on Wednesday, September 18's for their inaugural event Colors of the Mind. The evening's proceeds were used to expand Ochsner Neuroscience Institute research efforts, as well as enhancing the patient experience and support for caregivers who are treated at the facility. The soiree was attended by 350 guests, which was certainly an impressive feat for a freshman event.
Guests mingled over fare by Marie's Fleur de Lis Catering, which included shrimp and grits, beef tenderloin, and gourmet mac-n-cheese. Specialty cocktails were served and featured the names of neurological conditions including "Brain Wave" and "Purple Tonic Myoclonic." Landry Walker band led a Patron Party second line to the ballroom for the presentation, while D Play held court on the main stage. An MRI depicting the colors of Ochsner Health System's CEO Warner Thomas' brain was displayed to the guests during his remarks.
The Downtown venue was decorated with BBJ Linens's silk linens, multi-colored ribbons, and floral arrangements by Urban Earth Events and Designs, with decorative lighting by Pyramid Audio Productions. Animated butterflies and hula hoop artists circulated throughout the event and attendees had the opportunity to take a Virtual Reality experience of the brain. Colors of the Mind also had a glitter bar, a huge hit among the crowd, and a 360-degree photobooth, which offered a memorable snapshot of the event.
A live scene painting by Tracy Wisehart-Plaisance truly captured the party's mood and a silent auction offering exotic vacations and experiences was met with enthusiasm. Susan Zackin and Andrea Lockwood of Z Events helped to coordinate the colorful evening, which to put simply, was a massive success.
