Little Miss Muffin is bringing French Quarter flavor to its Lakeview location with a new pop-up series. The outdoor event, modeled after the Wednesday music festival tradition, is called The Little Square on Harrison and will feature New Orleans artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs.
"Local artists and musicians need support at this time and a lot of them are located in the French Quarter which has a fraction of the foot traffic it once had prior to COVID," Monique Sobrino, the owner of Little Miss Muffin, told Adore. "This is also our way of giving back to them and supporting them through this time. They are a crucial part of our city's culture and what makes New Orleans great."
The Little Square on Harrison aims to bring the public together (safely, of course) and build community, while reminding people to shop local. Little Miss Muffin is focused on highlighting entrepreneurs and new businesses at the pop-up, which will promote brand awareness and a platform. "For our customers, this is a fresh perspective of retail making it more experiential and less transactional."
Sobrino hopes to hold the pop-up bi-monthly if not weekly through the end of the year. The next pop-up will take place Wednesday, November 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. with music from The Finish Men (they know over 800 songs!). Local author Louise Duhe Jardel will be signing her book Katie the Pink Dolphin and popcorn will be provided by The Broad Theater and The Broadside.
The Little Square on Harrison isn't the only project Sobrino accomplished during the pandemic.
"As a business owner, the pandemic allowed me to put ideas into action that otherwise may have stayed on the back burner. It also allowed me to focus on our online store, which was very important. Our online store became our retail store, and directly connected us to our customers during quarantine earlier this year. As a business owner, you are always faced with new challenges and I think our team did a fantastic job at accepting this challenge head-on."
The Little Square on Harrison takes place at the Little Miss Muffin store in Lakeview, located at 766 Harrison Avenue.
