While people visit New Orleans for the food, music, and Mardi Gras, many also venture here for the antiques. With famed shops across the city and Instagram accounts like Estately Nola and ADIOS selling secondhand treasures, decorating with these finds can often be challenging, especially for those with little to no design experience.
Join Garden District Book Shop and local interior designer Tara Shaw for a virtual discussion on her first book Soul of the Home: Designing with Antiques. The book, which was released in April 2020, features many of her favorite antique-hunting spots throughout Europe, stories from her years of treasure hunting, and advice on choosing the right pieces and how to display them in a variety of ways.
"Tara Shaw's design principles stem from 20 years of success as an antiques wholesaler. In addition to her thriving import business, she has a custom furniture line, Maison, and a licensed product line with Restoration Hardware. She lives in New Orleans."
The free discussion will take place Thursday, September 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. over Zoom and an RSVP is required. Can't make the event? Purchase Shaw's book directly from Garden District Book Shop for her anecdotes, tips, and more.
