The official transition into Fall doesn't make much of a difference in New Orleans. While we're beginning to decorate with pumpkins and seasonal accents, the temperatures are still uncomfortably high and getting into the spirit seems...warm.

Instead of pulling out fluffy blankets and cold weather décor, Tachic Hickman-Piazza has a better idea for making your home feel like Fall without making your space stuffy. The designer, who produces and coordinates production logistics for TV and film by day, suggests switching up your florals and bringing bolder, warmer, and earthier tones into your arrangements. "Don't feel like you have to stick to traditional Fall colors," she explains. "Be bold and mix it up! Pair some bright colors with warm tones to create a more customized look."

By doing this, your home won't feel too warm or too summery. "It's the perfect blend of both seasons until the cooler air really beings to kick in...But, I’d say to anyone, your home is your sanctuary. Design and decorate as you see fit and as you please, including pulling out seasonal and holiday décor when it feels right for and to you and your family."

When Tachic isn't at her day job, you can find her working with clients and working on her design blog. As the youngest of four, she was always the child to accompany her mother on furniture and home décor shopping excursions which she says planted the seed for her love of design. Fast forward to 2019: her company, Allured By Design, is in full force. Not only does she offer several design services, she collaborates with local artists. This season, Tachic and artist Kara Sanchez teamed up on the perfect Fall accessory: the Arsty Glam Pumpkin. The one-of-a-kind gourds are covered in polyurethanes, resin, and crushed mirror fragments, and feature a hand painted base. (Enter ALLUREDBYDESIGN for 10% off.)

This season, Tachic can be found visiting local art markets and festivals in her free time. She tells Adore that her absolute favorite Fall activity is visiting home décor stores and local boutiques around town and on the Northshore to see all the latest design trends and products.

"The fashion industry puts forth some of its best clothing in the Fall and likewise, I find that design brands put forth the most amazing home décor accents for the Fall season as well. I love walking into a store and seeing a stunning design vignette filled with gorgeous Fall scented candles, seeing Fall décor, plush pillows and throws, and loads of metallics, which are always heavily on display during the season."
