Instead of lounging around in sweats and pajamas (we aren't judging), opt for something a little more stylish this weekend. On Saturday, April 18, Arts Council New Orleans in partnership with Canal Place is presenting a virtual fashion show with local fashion designers. The show can be viewed on Instagram (@artsneworleans) from 5 to 6 p.m.

Virtual Fashion Show

The featured designers are part of SALON, an ongoing collaboration between the two organizations. The SALON artists have access to free studio and exhibition space in a retail storefront within Canal Place (which is currently closed due to COVID-19), and over the course of six months, the artists activate the space through tours, exhibitions, performances, workshops, and more.

Saturday's event will bring the SALON artists together again with designer interviews, virtual catwalks, and a style session Q&A. To make the show even more interactive, viewers are asked to share their best at-home style by using the hashtag #salonvirtualstyle to be featured in the virtual red carpet roundup. (Be sure to tag @artsneworleans and @canalplacestyle on Instagram).

The participating designers are Afrimodiste by Renee Johnson, Altar New Orleans, KAYIE by VanShawn Branch, NamiSutra, MILAGROS, and New Orleans Independent Fashion.
