Is there anything better than sinking into a chair for a pedicure after a long day? You're scrubbed, buffed, and massaged for 40 minutes and leave with brand spanking new feet (a must during sandal season). While browsing Instagram earlier this week, I happened upon a new service from Paint'd Nail Design Studio which promised to take the pampering session to the next level. Using CBD-infused products, their CannaBLISS Manicure and Pedicure is one of the first beauty treatments in New Orleans to feature the oil.
No stranger to CBD oil or topicals, I was intrigued by the offering. CBD, formally known as cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring plant compound boasting benefits like better sleep, stress reduction, and pain relief. Aimee Sedky, founder of Paint'd, learned that CBD was being used in a Los Angeles salon from one of her employees. She reached out to inquire more: What were they using? How did this treatment differ from others? The salon uses Kush Queen, an online retailer specializing in premier CBD products, none of which contain THC. Sedky and the team decided to move forward, partner with Kush Queen, and formally offer a CBD experience at Paint'd.
Walking into the salon is a treat in itself: vibrant wallpaper and cheerful technicians contribute to the easygoing nature. After selecting a summer-friendly color (the salon uses Deborah Lippmann nail polish), I settled in for the pedicure. First up: soaking your feet with a whizzing, blue bath bomb that contains a blend of lavender, chamomile, and frankincense, along with CBD. The relaxing aroma truly sets the tone for the rest of the session. Regular pedicure procedures follow--clipping, cuticle cutting, etc.--before being rubbed with a lavender sugar scrub, also armed with CBD and delivering a tingling sensation.
I usually use the 40 minutes to aimlessly scroll on Instagram, make my to-do list, or catch up with friends over text. Within minutes, I was ready for a nap. I set my phone aside for the rest of the appointment and started to doze off, especially during the foot and leg massage which employs Kush Queen's Melt CBD Relief Lotion. Feeling relaxed and blissful, I savored my final moments at Paint'd before heading home.
Would I do it again? Absolutely! The products massively enhanced the relaxation that pedicures provide, which is always a welcome feeling. While I won't always opt for a CBD-centric treatment, it is a fantastic option for those days when you need to reset and simply bliss out.
Paint'd, located at 1581 Magazine Street #3, offers the new CannaBLISS Pedicure for $59 and the CannaBLISS Manicure for $39 (gel polish is available for $10 more).
