Couldn't make to New York Fashion Week this season? New Orleans has a solution for you: New Orleans Fashion Week starts Sunday, September 22 and offers the community a variety of opportunities to enjoy all things fashion, while raising attention to the talents of southern designers, models, beauty professionals, models, and more.

Established in 2011 by Tracee Dundas, New Orleans Fashion Week brings industry professionals together with a series of runway shows and events, many of which are accessible to the public. This year's schedule is chock full of experiences including the Top Design Competition, which gives emerging designers the opportunity to present their collection to the esteemed and expert panel of judges. The winner will be presented with a career launching prize package.

Below, a closer look at of the happenings during the ninth annual New Orleans Fashion Week.

Sunday, September 22

Fashion Week commences on Sunday with two events: Model Moves and the official kickoff party. Aspiring models will have the opportunity to walk at Pythian Market in front of industry professionals including photographers and agents. The kickoff party follows at Apres Lounge, where Fashion Week participants, family, and friends can mingle ahead of the busy week. Model Moves takes place Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Pythian Market. The kickoff party at Apres Lounge starts at 7 p.m.

Monday, September 23

This event looks to the past at the city's carnival-inspired fashion. Grand Glam: the Artistry of Carnival in Fashion will be hosted in the Presbytère’s Mardi Gras exhibition and offers guests a runway show with looks inspired by the current costumes and gowns on display. Attendees will also have a chance to view Grand Illusions: The History and Artistry of Gay Carnival in New Orleans after-hours. The event takes place at the Louisiana State Museum from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Tuesday, September 24

Fashion and shopping are a match made in heaven! This Tuesday, head to Canal Place for an exclusive shopping event. The event offers attendees the chance to sip while shopping in their most fashionable shoes for a chance to win a Canal Place gift card. Craft cocktails and small bites will be provided by The Westin and Morton's. The cost of admission will benefit Dress for Success. Shoesday Tuesday takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $5. 

Wednesday, September 25

This year, New Orleans Fashion Week is offering a French experience. Orléans X Orleans will highlight the "creative bond of the twinning cities." Guests can expect local performances, bites, and libations at the Wednesday evening soiree. Fashion will be presented by French designers Martial Tapolo, Soleo, and Tchambo R. The party begins at 6 p.m. at Degas House. Admission is $20.

Thursday, September 26 - Saturday, September 28

New Orleans Fashion Week offers three days of shows starting Thursday, September 26. On the final day, a celebratory wrap party will be held at the Nopsi Rooftop at 10 p.m. General tickets are valid for any single day of runway shows. There are two packages (VIP Pass and General Admission) that allow access to all three days of shows held at the Board of Trade.
