The Warehouse District just got healthier! True Food Kitchen, an eatery with 28 locations across the nation, has opened on St. Charles Avenue and Julia Street. Located on the ground floor of The Julia, the restaurant offers healthy, flavorful food that is crafted to be better for a guest's taste buds and body. 

"I love New Orleans," founder Dr. Andrew Weil told Adore. "It's a really distinctive city and it's really famous for its food. Not necessarily the food I eat all of the time, but there is a lot of good stuff here."

The brand is known for their thoughtfully crafted and seasonal menus, which can be prepared based on the dietary requirements of guests, no matter how specific. (The True Food Kitchen team says that every dish on the menu can be customized.) The recipes contain nutrient-dense staples and carefully sourced proteins, and are rooted in the principles of Weil's anti-inflammatory pyramid. Weil opened the first True Food Kitchen in 2008 and oversees all dishes, making sure they are consistent with his philosophy. This includes the array of drinks, both alcohol and non-alcoholic. "They're really innovative and great," Weil explained. Guests can order wellness shots, a ginger margarita made with organic tequila, and the "Antioxidant Mimosa."

This season's menu includes tasty Fall fare including a vegan butternut squash pizza, a vegetarian roasted beet and goat cheese flatbread, and a gluten-free and vegan squash pie. The founder's favorite dish on the menu is the new Unbeetable Burger, made of a beet and kuzu patty. "It's really terrific and healthier than the other alternative burgers."

The new New Orleans restaurant spans over 6,500 square feet and seats 174 in the dining room, with additional outdoor seating and a private dining room available. The eatery also features a custom piece by mixed-media artist Christopher Barnett. He gathered materials donated by New Orleanians through ArcGNO and Green Project such as local dishes, recycled Mardi Gras Beads, and vintage Krewe emblems.

True Food Kitchen is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Brunch is served until 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday only.
