Joy Wilson, also known as Joy the Baker, has launched her first product line exclusively with Williams Sonoma of premium mixes. Her muffin mix, sheet cake mixes, and pancake mixes are meant to take the fuss out of home baking and are available online now and in Williams Sonoma locations on May 26.

Her sheet cakes include Vanilla with Praline Glaze, Chocolate with Neapolitan Frosting, and Espresso Chocolate with Peanut Butter Frosting. Start your day with the Blueberry Pancake Muffins (the best of both worlds!), Oatmeal Cookie Pancakes, and Carrot Cake Pancakes. The breakfast mixes were inspired by Wilson's popular brunch recipes from her early blog days and simplified for at-home chefs and bakers.

Wilson will also host a virtual event on Tuesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. CST from The Bakehouse, her abode and studio, where guests will learn more about the mixes, and cook alongside her as she teaches how to make a sheet cake from scratch and the Blueberry Pancake Muffins. What inspired the collection of mixes you collaborated on with Williams Sonoma? 

My collection of mixes with Williams Sonoma is inspired by the playful baking I do in the kitchen everyday. I love classic flavors with a simple twist. For example, peanut butter and chocolate are a match made in heaven. Add espresso to the mix and everything tastes even better. We also take some of my favorite classic treats like Carrot Cake and Oatmeal Cookies and turn them into clever pancake mixes because why not have a little dessert with breakfast?

I want to keep all the fun and creativity in baking but take out some of the guess work and relieve home bakers of those dreaded dishes. The sheet cake and breakfast mixes are festive enough for your sweetest celebrations and simple enough for everyday baking.

What was it like partnering with Williams Sonoma?

Williams Sonoma has always been my favorite kitchenware store and they're dream collaborators. From the start, we've both been set on using real, quality ingredients to develop these mixes and we spent an entire year baking through different iterations of these mixes until they were just what we wanted. It’s been such a fun process to team up in this way and we're really so proud of the results.

Are you still hosting workshops and classes in the Bakehouse?

Yes! This summer we’ll be hosting a few small in-person classes and we’ll continue to host virtual baking classes for those who can’t make it in person. We’ll be adding to our calendar of events here.
