If one of your resolutions or goals for this year is to try new things, then the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) has just what you need! The institution's popular enthusiast classes have returned for 2022 and tickets to the first two classes are now available.

Cheese & Wine for Valentine's will take place on Monday, February 14 with cheese expert Liz Thorpe and Terry Quire of Grand Krewe. Guests can expect a guided tasting of five cheeses paired with five different styles of wine and will leave with notes on each cheese and wine. Participants will also have the chance to purchase all sampled wines.

Next up is the King Cake Workshop on Tuesday, February 22 with The Big Book of King Cake author Matt Haines and Martha Gilreath of Nolita, a small pop-up bakery in New Orleans, and also a NOCHI Baking & Pastry Arts alum. (Her cake is on the cover of Haines' book.) Guests will shape and bake their own king cakes while learning the history of the confection. Participants will take home the fresh cake along with decorating supplies, know-how, and inspiration. Signed books will also be available to purchase.

The full lineup of classes and dates will be announced Friday, January 21. Enthusiasts can expect classes with Hieu Than, Adolfo Garcia, and Brandt Cox and an additional cheese class with Thorpe.

Gift cards that can be applied to the classes are also available for purchase — perfect for birthdays, Valentine's Day, or a post-holiday thank you gift!

NOCHI is located at 725 Howard Avenue
