As couples across the country register for kitchen knives and cordless vacuums on The Knot, they can also help amazing organizations at the same time. Son of a Saint, a local New Orleans non-profit helping fatherless boys through its many programs, is officially part of The Knot Gifts Back program.
"A portion of the the total value of the purchased gifts from a couple's registry will be donated to us by The Knot when a couple chooses Son of a Saint within the 'Children, Youth & Families' category of this program," Son of a Saint shared on Instagram.
The partnership came about through one of Son of a Saint's advisory board members, Jen Hayes Lee, who is also the senior director of marketing and partnerships at The Knot. A longtime supporter of Son of a Saint and its mission, she suggested the organization for the opportunity and provided guidance through the process.
"The Knot takes a strong stance on creating charitable ties to its work and supporting various communities worldwide and people from all walks of life, which is something that deeply resonates with us," Elliot Hutchinson, Son of a Saint's senior brand and communications manager, told Adore. "In this current climate, the company continues to be forward-thinking corporate citizen and is pushing ahead in all the ways it possibly can, despite outside obstacles. That's another characteristic we have in common. During these times, people are becoming more socially aware than perhaps ever before, so these opportunities to collaborate and uplift awareness are creating even more meaningful impact."
The partnership isn't Son of a Saint's only unique support and donation method. "We're fortunate to have partners who share our excitement and creativity when it comes to fundraising. As recently as last month, we teamed up with Abita Brewing to develop and launch the Son of a Saint Series, which is a year-long offering of specialized brews housed inside the Abita taproom. The brews will be switched out and updated periodically, with 100% of sales proceeds directly benefiting Son of a Saint."
"We’ve also continued our partnership with Dat Dog. For the sixth consecutive year, Son of a Saint is co-hosting a competition to name the latest Son of a Saint 'Dog, which yields our organization sustained funding. $1 from the sale of each Son of a Saint 'Dog throughout the entire year benefits us. We’ve also joined forces with AFAR Media to support our boys' international travel experiences, including last year’s journey to Ghana, Africa."
Son of a Saint also saw a strong show of support on June 2, 2020. GiveNola Day 2020 was a record-breaking success for the organization, with more than $95,000 raised from about 1,000 different contributors.
"Our team still talks about our GiveNOLA Day success and the way it exhilarated our efforts. Another aspect people may not be aware of is how our mentees were closely watching the progress of the initiative, and they were also thrilled with how things turned out. To say the entire Son of a Saint network is deeply grateful is an understatement. We appreciate everything that continues to happen for us and the way our community wraps its arms around us as we continue into our future."
