If you thought revelry ended on Mardi Gras Day, think again. The Ballet Ballers Ball will take place Saturday, March 7 and guarantees to be an enjoyable evening filled with dance and photography. All proceeds from the event directly support dancers' salaries.

The fundraiser is hosted by Christa Schwartz and Vesta Fort, both avid supporters of the New Orleans Ballet Theater. Schwartz is newly engaged with the organization in terms of their fundraiser, while Fort is a long-time friend of Greg and Marjorie Schramel. (Schramel Conservatory of Dance is the official school of NOBT.)

"My connection was solely based on a personal relationship until I actually saw one of their performances, forever galvanizing my belief in their mission to create and active ballet company that both cultivates and supports professional ballet dancers here and from elsewhere," Fort told Adore

While the organization is geared towards paying dancers commensurate with their experience level, this is the first event where funds are dedicated to that purpose. The event will feature photographs of the dancers taken by Paul Costello in a special collaboration. "Paul was so taken by the athleticism, coordination, and of course, the bodies of the dancers, that he was inspired to create and orchestrate this incredible series of photographs," Schwartz says.

The evening will also include a short program including remarks and a Pas de Deux.  Guests can expect food and libations from Pelican Club, Martin Wine Cellar, Craig Borges’ New Orleans Seafood Company, and Taceaux Loceaux.

Since it's founding in 2002, NOBT has evolved into the state's premier ballet company. The school has programs for both youth and adults, and offers programs for students who lack access to quality arts education in New Orleans.

"I was a fairly serious dancer when I was younger and because of that I have a great appreciation for the contribution afforded to our community by NOBT," Schwartz shared. "I had my two oldest daughters enrolled at Schramel in their early years. Each of them followed their own passions outside of the ballet world. I now have my youngest enrolled and look forward to seeing where this leads."
