Make your holidays a little more educational this year. Two French Quarter museums are hosting tours where guests will have the opportunity to see decorations of the past and learn more about Christmas in New Orleans. The offerings are available post-Christmas Day, allowing visitors and locals alike to extend the holiday season just a little bit longer.
Hermann-Grima + Gallier Historic Houses
Take a step back in time with this French Quarter museum. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the private family home of New Orleans architect James Gallier, Jr. as it would have looked back in the 1800s. Guests can also discover Creole holiday traditions from the 19th century will touring Hermann-Grima; learn about local methods of holiday decorating, culinary traditions, reveillon dinners, and more.
The Historic New Orleans Collection
Celebrate the holidays with THNOC through the weekend. Now, until Sunday 12/29, guests can enjoy the Holiday Home and Courtyard Tour. Visitors will get to see the festively decorated residence and courtyard of THNOC's founders, while also having the opportunity to shop at the Shop at The Collection. If you're in the mood for music, check out their live organ performances of classic Christmas carols. On Friday 12/27 and Saturday 12/28, the complimentary event will take place on the third floor of THNOC's exhibition center at 520 Royal Street.
