Adore's new series will follow the typical morning routine of a New Orleans mover and shaker.

You've probably seen one of Lauren Schnell's New Orleans themed t-shirts around town. She makes them for everything: Football season (LSU and Saints gear are currently in stores), the Rolling Stones coming to town, and Mardi Gras. She's stocked in just about every New Orleans boutique--Wildflower, Hemline, and Angelique to name a few--which she says feels like a dream. "Every time I see something I’ve created on another individual or in a store window, it’s like I’m seeing it for the first time," she told Adore. "I completely freak out. My permanent address has become cloud 9."

Schnell's known that she was creative since day 1, but it wasn't until she was in front of Primavera by Sandro Botticelli in Italy when she realized her love of art. She had dreams of becoming the next Alexander McQueen, but Schnell Studios happened instead, which she says was a complete accident. "I was designing graphic design interior prints in college, and a classmate suggested that I should put one of my designs on a t-shirt. Cue the Parade Nola shirt. The rest is history. It must have been written in the stars."

Inspired by the bizarre, gothic, and magical aspects of life, all of Schnell's creations have an air of mischief, perfect for a city like New Orleans. As she continues to design, her goal is to stay relevant without creating a need for fast fashion. "I want to create sustainable staple pieces that my customers will want to wear forever."

To see how this force of nature does this and more, check out her structured yet gentle morning routine below.

9 a.m. I let my body wake up to its natural time clock, no alarms for me. I let my body dictate how much rest I need, unless my cat, Zoe, decides otherwise.

9:15 a.m. Dream Journal. Whenever I’m in design mode, I tend to keep the same hours as a vampire, making my dreams a little on the bizarre side. So, first things first, I jot down my dreams. It starts my day with a little extra imagination and feeds my creativity. I use The Dream Journal by Cocorrina & Co, a mystical design company based in the Greek Islands.

9:30 a.m. Hydrate. Water is amazing, especially with some added fresh squeezed lemon juice. On mornings when I’m feeling particularly fancy, I reach for watermelon water to give my body an extra boost of electrolytes. WTRMLN WTR from Whole Foods is my go-to.

9:45 a.m. Meditate. Every single morning, I find time to meditate and stretch. My morning mood dictates my entire day. This practice keeps my anxieties at bay, and helps me start the day with a clear head, ready to crush any obstacle. If it is not ten thousand degrees, I love to meditate outside. Being in nature while soaking up some Vitamin D is my favorite setting for meditation. Both the Headspace App and the Calm App are beyond magical, and I bounce between them for guided meditations.

10:15 a.m. Dance Party. I turn on some jams, and I make my bed. Because every successful individual makes their bed. Allegedly. Jams range from Lizzo to Bach.

10:30 a.m. Skincare. I move my dance party to the bathroom. My skincare regimen starts with Youth to the People’s Superfood Cleanser, followed by their Superfood Firm + Brighten Serum, and I finish off with their Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil.

10:45 a.m. Breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day. If I skip it, I turn into a monster. And I add coffee. One cup, ten cups…has anyone invented an espresso IV yet?

11:00 a.m. I finally check my digital devices. My big 2019 new years resolution was all about limiting screen time. No iPhone, iPad, or laptop two hours before bed or immediately after I wake. It’s by far the most brilliant thing I’ve done for my personal wellness this year. I set timers on my apps for each day. There’s no time to waste scrolling away, while running a one-woman biz. Waiting to check my emails, social medias, and online orders, until I’m in a strong headspace helps me to be less anxious, and way more productive.

11:30 a.m. Master List. I make an entire detailed task list for the day, and I’m ready to take over the world. [Editor's note: Be on the lookout for her expansion beyond tees and her upcoming leather collaboration with local artist Morgan Gray.]
