Spring in New Orleans is officially here, and the city is already bustling with activities. Although festivals have been pushed to later in the year, there are plenty of fun events to attend both in-person and online. Spruce up your home with a hand crafted creation, listen in on a lively discussion between musician Rickie Lee Jones and Jamie Dell'Apa, or indulge in a cheese and beer pairing with friends. Below, the three events you can't miss this April!

Tuesday, April 6

Join GRAMMY award-winning musician and New Orleans local, Rickie Lee Jones, on Tuesday, April 6 for a lively and in-depth conversation with WWOZ talent Jamie Dell’Apa in honor of her memoir Last Chance Texaco: Chronicles of an American Troubadour. Hosted by The Garden District Book Shop in the courtyard of Preservation Hall, guests can expect to hear tales from Jones' remarkable life and career, as well as excerpts from her memoir.

"Last Chance Texaco is the first ever no-holds-barred account of the life of two-time Grammy Award-winner Rickie Lee Jones in her own words. It is a tale of desperate chances and impossible triumphs, an adventure story of a girl who beat the odds and grew up to become one of the most legendary artists of her time, turning adversity and hopelessness into timeless music."

The in-person event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. and tickets include a seat for the discussion, a signed copy of the memoir, an opportunity to have a copy personalized, and beverages provided by The Garden District Book Shop in partnership with Martin Wine Cellar. The event will adhere to all CDC guidelines. Ticket options, including virtual tickets, are available online now.
