Calling all readers! The New Orleans Museum of Art released the list of books that its book club will read and discuss in 2020. The first book of the year is The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History by Elizabeth Kolbert and the discussion is set for Thursday, January 30.
Comprised of book lovers and the NOMA staff, the informal book club meets once a month, with the exception of December. The books are a mix of fiction and nonfiction and are related to art, art museums, artists, and more. Most of the book club's programs starts at noon on a weekday (perfect lunch break!) and the museum provides water and soft drinks. Besides book discussions, there are Meet the Author receptions, field trips, and curatorial programs offered.
The museum does request that those interested RSVP for the meetings. They also take suggestions for "reads" throughout the year, which may appear in the following year's lineup. To join the club, contact NOMA's Learning and Engagement Department at firstname.lastname@example.org.
