Bookworms and foodies of New Orleans will find common ground through a new (and delicious) book club. The New Orleans Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International (LDEI) recently introduced a bi-monthly culinary book club that will read and discuss food-related fiction and nonfiction.

The event is free and open to the public, but a donation of $5 is suggested to support LDEI and the New Orleans chapter's goals "to foster a supportive culture in our community to help women achieve excellence in food, beverage and hospitality fields."

The next meeting takes place Saturday, December 14th at 9:30 a.m. and will be held at Petite Rouge Cafe located at 3146 Calhoun Street. Forked: A New Standard For American Dining by Saru Jayaraman will be discussed. Written by the 2015 James Beard Leadership Award winner, Forked offers an inside look at the restaurant industry and offers a new way of thinking about how and where we eat.
