Looking for Fourth of July plans? Z Event Company is hosting a socially distant drive-in music festival and fireworks show on Saturday, July 4. The family friendly six-hour event follows the success of a drive-in showing of Grease, which took place in May.
"[The drive-in] was so successful and everyone who attended was so grateful for us putting it on and they asked ‘what will we do next?'" Susan Zackin, the owner of Z Events, told Adore. "It inspired me to create another event that we can safely attend."
The lineup of musicians includes Amanda Shaw, Flow Tribe, Brass-a-holic's, and D-Play. The concert will also be broadcast via a FM transmitter for those who wish to remain in the interior of the vehicle.
Zackin was inspired to put local musicians back to work. "You know we need them in good shape for when the festivals can start back up! They have been cooped up at home too long and we need their music to lift us all and give us an escape for the day. Holidays can be tough for people mentally."
The event will be held at the Bucktown Harbor Park, which has become Zackin’s "go-to." "[Jefferson Parish] is so easy to work with and eager to help bring something to the community…It is so beautiful right on the lake and there is a nice breeze to help in this heat!"
While outside food and beverage can be brought to the drive-in, an assortment of food trucks will be present at the event (masks are required in the food and beverage area). The evening will end with a choreographed fireworks show over the lake.
The event is produced solely by Z Event Company. Regular vendors ("friendors" as Zackin describes them) have been instrumental in helping bring the event to life in an affordable way.
"It's going to be a great event and we will hopefully be able to carry on the tradition and begin a music festival like this in Jefferson Parish that will become a 'must attend' event. We run these events as we do our private and corporate events."
Tickets must be purchased in advance. More details and information can be found here.
