Stop by The Garden District Book Shop for two incredible events this week. The first celebrates Rick Bragg's newest novel and the second involves snowballs. Need we say more?

Thursday, September 30

Celebrate renowned author and journalist Rick Bragg's latest during an in-person event Thursday, September 30 at 6 p.m. The Speckled Beauty is the story of how the author's life was transformed by his love for Speck, a half-blind dog described as a "terrible boy, a defiant, self-destructive, often malodorous boy" that showed up on the ridgeline behind Bragg's house. The dog isn't all bad; Speck arrived during an uncertain time in Bragg's life with a cancer diagnosis, kidney failure, and recurring pneumonia. The Speckled Beauty is heartwarming and humorous and explores Bragg and Speck's special bond.

The evening begins with a welcome reception followed by the author's famous storytelling and a reading from the book. There will be a Q&A with a book signing to follow. Tickets are available for $30 and include a copy of the book and welcome snacks and beverages. Couples tickets are also available for $36 and include entry for two, one copy of the book, and welcome snacks and beverages. Tickets are available online.

All state-mandated COVID safety protocols will be in place. Masks are required. Proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test result within 72 hours of the event is required.
