August is by far the hottest month in New Orleans (hooray...), but the city's museums are here to help. This month, admission to many of the acclaimed institutions is free through a mass collaboration.
New Orleans Museum Month allows museum members the opportunity to visit other participants using their current membership. For example, if you hold a membership at the New Orleans Museum of Art, you would have complimentary access to The National WWII Museum. Members are also eligible to bring a guest!
Museums of all sizes and located in a variety of neighborhoods are included in annual tradition, offering something for everyone. Some of the participating establishments include Audubon Butterfly Garden & Insectarium, the Beauregard-Keyes House and Garden Museum, and New Canal Lighthouse.

Ogden Museum of Southern Art
Several of the museums are offering discounts on membership during August as well. For example, Newcomb Art Museum and Ogden Museum of Southern Art are both offering 25% off of their respective memberships. Between special events at the museums and access to other institutions during August, it clearly pays to be support New Orleans museums and become a member.
Museum Month runs through the end of August. For a full list of participants, click here.
