According to Ashley Longshore, her latest book is in her ideal format: photo heavy. The New Orleans-based artist recently released I Do Not Cook, I Do Not Clean, I Do Not Fly Commercial, a photographic coffee table book. "[It's] very visual and a great representation of my work from the last 10 years," Longshore told Adore.
This project has been in works for years. Longshore and her team gathered and stored high resolution photographs, so when the opportunity for the book presented itself, they were prepared. The book, which is the artist's second (the first is a memoir), was published by Rizzoli and had contributions from Tommy Hilfiger, Diane Von Furstenberg, Linda Fargo, and Blake Lively. Having author on her resume is exciting, she says, and she's thrilled with what she has accomplished.
"Above all things, my father is very, very proud of me," she says. "That makes me really happy, because I want to make my family proud."
Signings, events, and more have taken place across the country, and Longshore says she can't wait to properly toast the book in New Orleans. "This place, the foundation of where I create all of my artwork, is so dear to my heart and I cannot wait to throw down."
Meanwhile on Magazine Street, you'll find that her gallery received a face lift, but is still just as visually pleasing and fun as before. "It worked out beautifully that it happened around the same time as [the launch]," she says. "I wanted to keep it cool and fun for fans and collectors when they come to visit in New Orleans...they like to take photographs in here."
The book can be purchased here. Ashley Longshore Gallery is located at 4537 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70115 and can be visited 6 days a week.
