While most of the year's big events have been postponed or canceled, the New Orleans Museum of Art's annual Odyssey event will take place over five evenings in November and December. Guests can expect a fun, safe art- and musical-themed evening filled with libations, a three-course seated dinner Ralph Brennan Catering & Events, and a special tour led by one of NOMA's expert curators.
"As always and critically this year, funds raised through Odyssey provide general operating support to NOMA, allowing us to serve our community with art, education and programmatic initiatives, retain staff and create innovative virtual content. As a result of COVID and the associate closure, the museum has lost over 60% of its annual revenue. With the pandemic and NOMA’s revenue loss this year, these funds are needed more than ever."
Breaking up the event (which typically hosts over 500 guests) into a series of evenings allows appropriately-sized groups to have the Odyssey experience while adhering to social distancing and mandated safety regulations. Each evening is limited it 80 attendees. Guests will enter through three separate entrances, have the option to attend one of three small curatorial led tours in a large gallery or area, and will enter the newly renovated courtyard for a seated dinner among friends.
While the format may be different, Odyssey promises to be a memorable event with three themes over five evenings: New Orleans Jazz, Sinatra & Swing, and Studio 54, Warhol & Disco.
"NOMA leadership worked with a task force that included lead sponsor IBERIABANK, board members, and NOMA Volunteer Committee leadership to formulate the overall concept and themes."
Odyssey will take place Friday, November 6; Friday, November 13; Saturday, November 14; Thursday, December 3; and Friday, December 4. Tickets can be purchased online.
